im using a dual O.S,98 & Xp home. recently caught a spyware virus.on 98 have norton, scaned entire system and got rid of any virus that were there. however on Xp home, i could not load Norton but AVG antivirus. on xp,system runs only 4r 5mins then hangs so i cant scan the entire pc to delete virus,can any1 help to get rid of this virus

Get a boot-disk made from another computer.

Load up your PC from this book-disk, and do a complete format of your hard drive followed by a fresh install of windows xp. this is sure to solve any problems you may have, 100% :)

try going to microsoft.com and find a download|||go to google pack and download nortan for free|||Start your computer in safe mode and purge the virus when it starts up.

Safe Mode:

1) Start/Restart computer

2) Press F5 rapidly until computer beeps

3) Select start in Safe Mode with arrow keys and Enter

4) Run Norton Anti-Virus

5) Restart computer but don't press F5

If this doesn't work, try getting AntiVi from

Hope you delete that virus!|||Go to this site. Gladiator Security Forum. Follow their directions on what to do before posting. Then post your Hijack this log to them and they will help you from there. I think with viruses it hard to use Yahoo Answers to help someone as you usually have more than one question.

Good Luck!|||you need to run in safe mode several times do you know how to?|||reboot in safe mode... scan the machine with anti-virus and anti-spyware. this should work.|||Run in safe mode (reset at click (F9?)), run antivirus in that mode - ull clean all of the crap out. Good luck!|||better you format the harddisk...and install a perfect virus scanner................i suggest macafe|||Have you downloaded the microsoft anti spy patch?|||oh good i hope you ment your infected so you die|||Try to download HijackThis, then post your log here after running and saving the log.
