How can I restore my desktop and start menu In my laptop?

Recently I downloaded a google pack which has 2 antivirus. I started the anti virus and scanned my computeer and went to bed. In morning when I woke up I removed the infection and reboot my laptop. After rebooting when i logged on then my laptop only shows My documentfiles opened. There was no desktop icon and my start menu. I tried system restore to restore point but it didnt worked. I think there is some problem with my contror panel. what can I do. Please help me . I will be very thankfull to you.

Are you just missing desktop icons and the start menu & bar? or do you see your my documents folder and no start menu? (does the start menu ever appear at all)?
