it's not good to have more than 1 AV running at a time, AVG is fine if you keep it up to date.

William V - as you yourself admit, you have not tested the products. Why would you feel qualified to pass judgement?

AVG is fine, and scores well on most AV tests. Avira AntiVir (also free) is a little better, but slower on the scan. I use Avira.

For the hard-of-thinking, let me point out the following - most of the 'free' AVs are *not* free for business, but are still bought. Furthermore, they offer 'pro' versions with added extras - but the same core components. These sell well.

Giving out the basic AV as a freebie is both a service, and a loss-leader. It has NO BEARING WHATSOEVER on the funcitonality of the program.

NB; AVG is better than norton, which is actually quite expensive.

EDIT: also for William V - have you troubled yourself to check what, exactly, these tests are looking for? AVG doesn't do so well as the more pedantic programs on the minor infections, as it (rightly) regards these as spyware, and thus not its problem. It does, however, score very well on removal of the stuff you really do not want to have on your machine.|||Yes try www.avast.com.
