You should also make sure you have several spyware protection programs. Ad-aware and Spybot: Search and Destroy are pretty much must-have programs, use them both regularly.

If you can find out exactly what virus it is that you have, you can do a search online to find out how you can get rid of the virus, if the programs you have aren't working. If you have mal-ware or spyware problems, you could ask for support on the Spybot forums, they will walk you step by step through processes, as long as you aren't trying to get help elsewhere and haven't tried to fix it all yourself. Keep notes of any error messages or problems you have, or weird programs that may be running.
