Computer makes grinding noise when shutting down?

My computer makes a grinding noise only when I shut down. It is doing this since I installed aol safety and security. I spoke to aol and they say it is a hard drive problem. But when I delete aol security and then shut down the computer, it does NOT make the grinding noise.

AOL security is checking your floppy drive for virus...at least that is what it sounds like.

you might want to go to www.avast.com for the free virus scanner...it is a great program. and go to www.iobit.com and download advanced windows care it is also free. Report It |||Your hard drive could be going...|||AOL is 1 big adware/spyware program.Stay away from anything AOL|||my best suggestion is delete the aol security and leave it deleted and go get avg antivirus www.avg.com that is all the protection you need, when you go to the website scroll down and look for the free antivirus version the full protection version cost 50 bucks you dont need that, and i have been recomended avg by many computer specialists, aol sucks though you should get dsl if you dont already have it|||Keep well away from anything AOL, my last four days has been mostly trying to clean up an repair machines after AOL got at them. Different makes, different people, all AOL induced problems. The grinding noise is AOL Virus trying to test a non-existent floppy in the empty drive! There is plenty of other security software available.
