Why am i unable to download torrent but could before?

I have a dell xps, running wireless through netgear router. I have been downloading torrents with utorrent for awhile now. Never got the green but they still download at about 50kbs. I took my laptop to chicago and used utorrent to d/l some torrents. changed NO settings. Came back home and went to continue the started torrents and it was barely downloading at all. I went to a torrent site and clicked on download torrent and it wont even do that. It just times out. I tried both saving and open with. Again, I was able to do all this stuff before i took my puter somewhere else and used another connection. I am at a loss....doesnt make sense to me!

i think your laptop got an other ip address while you connected to an other wireless network for example:

home (torrent working) ip was 192.168.1.20

you go away and connect in chicago to other network, settings get changed to connect to the network and you get an new address there for example 192.168.1.50

you come home and the address doesn't get changed becouse it's available on your router and the router agrees with the new address.

Your ip at home is still the same as in chicago. and because you've set up your netgear router to forward the ports to your old address you need to change this.

go into your router and change the portforwarding setting to the right ip. (to find your ip just click start run and type CMD, than type ping and the computer name e.g. ping laptop [enter]

this is the ip your laptop is using at the moment and that is what it needs to be.
