Why can't i download windows xp service pac 2?
everytime i try to download windows service pac 2 so i can get the new windows media player and internet explorer 7 it either gives me a virus or won't download properly can someone give me a better link or help me out i'm really not trying to system restore my PC again from downloading that **** wrong.

If you are getting viruses from downloading the Service Pack 2 update then you are either downloading it off the wrong site or already have a virus on your computer to begin with. The correct link can be found below and this will upgrade your existing XP to Service Pack 2 and will not destroy your PC either unless you shut it off while updating (not recommended). You should be able to download it with no problems.
Also, as someone already said, you will not get Windows Media Player 11 or Internet Explorer 7 with SP2. Those will come with Windows Vista when it is released, but are also downloadable individually (separately) and will work with SP2. Remember that both programs are still in beta which means they are experimental at this point so install and use at your own risk.
