Can't access the internet with windows xp pro?

I have windows xp pro, and everytime i try to use any program that access the internet the program automatically closes down, such as internet explorer, netspcape, windows explorer when you type a web address in the bar, even windows media player. I did install mcafee firewall and when i click on support the mcaffee program opens an internet explorer window which i can use... strange. I ran a virus scan but nothing... please help... this is frustrating

If things continue to happen, contact the internet service provider.|||Sounds like your security settings in McAfee are too high.

Try temporarily disabling Mcafee to see if you can then access.

If so, check your settings in Mcafee firewall.
