Error messages, computer freezing, scan registry?

As of yesterday my computer has been receiving message centre pop-ups when logging on to certain sites, these pop-ups contain sites like www.patchupdateinfo.com and www.fixwin32.com. I visited said sites, but am hesitant to download, because I'm scared it contains virus/spyware. I have a Mcaffee on my PC.

Also, I cannot login to hotmail or visit myspace profiles without the computer freezing up and showing the not responding message. what is this scan registry thing? how did something suddenly happen to my computer, will removing internet explorer and reloading it help? any info will do, many thanks.

hi, i recommand you to use firefox.

firefox is much smaller than IE, so i run faster than IE.

besides, firefox can block any any poppus and disable any virus and spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE. as you know, most of the virus is spread throught internet and webpage.
