I can't open "My computer"?

I recently bought a new computer with Vista. For some reason, I can't click on the start menu and open "my computer". Alright, I can open it, but there is nothing there. It does not show my C: drive or any other drive. When I click anywhere on my computer, the toolbar will say "not responding". Then a pop-up shows saying the program can't access explorer. I have run all the diagnostics I know. I have tried a system restore. I have run McAffee several times, to know avail. Any suggestions?

I would try re-installing windows, as it sounds like there is a problem with explorer.exe (the main windows executable) .... Also, this is a software issue not a hardware issue, so you might have better luck changing what category you have it posted in.

Yes vista does this. Actually microsoft downloaded some updates and this is what happened but the old settings need to be saved phone up your computer people and they will guild you throught the process. It is nothing do not worry.|||Try to right click it and then choose open. If not, may be you should reinstall windows.|||Try running the system file check utility to correct any windows file errors, from the open line type the following line:

sfc /scannow

This will compare the version numbers of the windows files to their originals. You maybe prompted to insert your system cd to restore any corupted files.

Definetly a faster fix than re-installing windows, and if it dosent fix the problem, the windows re-install is still an option.|||hi my name's amin
