Software on a new Dell Inspiron?

My new laptop came with a whole bunch of useless-to-me software that loads up on boot-up. There is also software on it that I don't want ie: MS Works, MS Office Trial Version, Mcaffee trial etc...

is there a recomended way of getting rid of this junk before I take a drive image with norton ghost?
