Whats wrong with my computer & how do i fix it?

ok i think my computer has a virus, but whenever i turn it on the only thing that loads is the screensaver and nothing else, i have the mcaffee virus scanner but it won't run unless my computer loads. help? also i can't clear everything off of it b/c i don't have a recovery disk so don't suggest that. is there ne thing i can do?
